Immersion Silver

Immersion silver is produced chemically (no electricity is involved). The thickness of the deposit is typically in the range of 0.2-0.4 microns. Immersion silver can be used as an alternate to a HASL (hot air solder leveling) process. The deposit is RoHS compliant, and provides solderability to surfaces that are isolated and difficult to electroplate. Immersion silver is an excellent surface for aluminum wire bonding.

As with all silver plating, immersion silver requires tarnish prevention if the plated parts are to be stored for any significant period of time.
